Hello Team Cargo,

I would be thrilled to join your roster as your new content writer. In addition to a decade of work in live, studio-based comedy and variety series and specials — a high-stakes, deadline-driven environment — I have written for some of Canada’s top media platforms and personalities, including CBC, The Toronto Star, and George Stroumboulopoulos.

In covering the Toronto theatre scene for the Star, I filed reviews for shows of all sizes, writing with heart, humour, and helpful commentary; in the tradition of theatre criticism, these reviews were created after the opening night performance and appeared in print and online the very next morning.

For George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, I pitched, researched, and executed multiple stories each day, adhering to the show’s mandate and matching the specific tone of the brand.

For CBC, I also wrote short-form content to promote programming and corporate initiatives for such marquee events as the Winter Olympics and the Canadian Screen Awards, the latter of which I would later go on to produce.

My writing is fast, accurate, clean, prompt. Let’s partner up to create new, compelling strategies that promote audience engagement and bring some brand love to large and loyal audiences.

All the best,

Mark Selby
